Jess Adam is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist in Somerville, MA who works primarily with LGBTQ+ young adults in their 20s and 30s. She welcomes clients who are exploring their sexuality, individuals experiencing perfectionism getting in the way of the life they want to lead, and couples looking to create effective communication in their relationship with each other. Jess strives to create an anti-opressive, intersectional and trans-affirming environment for all clients during therapy, and is actively learning and striving to deconstruct those barriers.
Jess enjoys helping the clients she works with establish and develop their sense of purpose in life, both in their professional and relational trajectory and their everyday actions. She is skilled in Narrative Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which she uses to help clients foster acceptance of difficult situations and learn to tolerate distress. In addition to her private practice, Jessica also teaches yoga and mindfulness classes in Cambridge and utilizes the principles from these practices in her private sessions.
Jess is dedicated to ensuring her clients see progress and feel supported during their time in treatment, and continually checks in to set goals and determine ways to work towards them. She looks forward to meeting you.
