Hi! I’m Kate (she/they) and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW) and EMDR Certified therapist. I operate Rooted & Rising, LLC where I serve as a trauma therapist and healthcare consultant. In my private practice, I support individuals & couples seeking to improve their well-being as well as address symptoms of personal & cultural trauma (namely: anxiety, depression, pervasive- & post-traumatic stress, as well as navigating challenges related to attachment & adjustment, identity & belonging, and grief & loss). While I get to support a diversity of people, I tend to specialize in supporting members of the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, neurodiverse folks, and those living with chronic illnesses and/or disabilities. As part of the latter, I have a subspecialty in supporting people (and their loved ones) impacted by pandemic trauma, including “long haulers” (people with Long COVID. Note: as of 2026, latest estimates suggest between 16-20% of people who contract COVID develop Long COVID).
My services are tailored to each person’s/couples’ unique goals & strengths, while remaining rooted by trauma- and attachment-informed approaches, human rights, social justice, as well as anti-oppressive and pro-liberation care. While EMDR is usually the main modality most of my clients seek out in our work, I also tend to weave in techniques from somatic practices as well as therapies including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior (DBT). Clients most often give the feedback that my style comes across as informal while professional and engaged, caring, curious, and collaborative. Above all, I believe that to make positive change we do it together, and through relationships built on trust, empathy, authenticity (and a good bit of humor). I appreciate you taking the time to reach out, and welcome questions as we explore any next steps.
