Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or like you’re somehow both not enough and too much at the same time? Maybe you’re straddling two or more worlds – cultures, identities, family structures, or relationship styles – and the weight of existing in all of them at once is taking a toll. Perhaps you carry trauma from childhood, struggle with the relentless demands of code-switching, or find yourself overfunctioning while quietly managing a chronic illness or neurodivergence that others don’t always see. If any of this sounds familiar, you are not alone – and working together with an LGBTQ+ therapist can help move you in the right direction toward healing.
Katrina P Mautner is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Oakland, CA, offering affirming, culturally competent therapy in the Bay Area for queer, trans, and gender-expansive individuals, those in non-monogamous, and polyamorous relationships, and kinky folks of all stripes. Katrina specializes in supporting QTBIPOC individuals, multiracial and mixed-race people, neurodivergent folks (including those with ADHD), first-generation college students and graduates, and those navigating the unique pressures of STEM fields and academia. Many of Katrina’s clients feel like they’ve been given every opportunity to succeed but still aren’t sure why life feels so hard – because the systems they’re embedded in, and the intergenerational trauma they carry, rarely get counted in that equation. Katrina’s work creates space to finally count them.
In therapy together, you can expect to feel less guilty and more grounded, to learn how to ask for what you need and actually receive support, and to develop the enduring self-confidence to meet life’s challenges without abandoning yourself in the process. Whether you are navigating conflict in your relationships, seeking support for queer or trans identity exploration, working through the dynamics of intercultural or interracial relationships, or trying to find shared values and agreements in a polyamorous or non-monogamous structure, therapy with Katrina is a space where all of it can be held with care. Together, you will tap into your cultural and internal wisdom, untangle the stories that have kept you stuck, and build tangible strategies that increase your capacity for connection, rest, and joy.
Katrina’s clinical approach draws from anti-oppression and liberation psychology, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, trauma-informed mindfulness and somatic therapy, narrative therapy, attachment and relational therapy, radical self-compassion, intersectional feminism, and existential humanistic philosophy. Katrina works with transitional-aged youth (16–24) and adults in individual and relationship sessions. As a mixed-race Latinx, queer, and non-binary therapist, Katrina brings both professional expertise and deep personal understanding to this work. You don’t have to be perfect to feel good – and together, we can find your way there.
