Kevin’s work is rooted in a commitment to affirming and liberatory care for LGBTQIA+ clients. As a white queer cisgender male, Kevin actively examines and challenges both the daily and systemic forces of oppression that impact our community, while recognizing his own unearned privilege as a white man and the ways it shapes his perspective and responsibility in this work. Kevin holds the belief that the political is personal, and that therapy does not occur outside of the broader social and cultural systems that influence our lives. He has had the privilege of supporting LGBTQ youth and young adults in both inpatient mental health settings and outpatient work including at the LGBTQ Center of Orange County. These experiences have deepened his respect for the resilience and intersectionality within queer and trans lives.
Kevin’s counseling training at California State University, Fullerton emphasized social justice and equipped him with a culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach to care. He continues to pursue ongoing trainings and workshops to further develop therapeutic approaches that address the specific stressors LGBTQIA+ individuals face including identity development, minority stress, family estrangement, religious trauma, systemic and medical discrimination, and relationship concerns.
Kevin’s mission is to offer a space where LGBTQIA+ clients feel seen, respected, and empowered to live a more satisfying life.
