Khadijah Kysia has acquired the following degrees:
Bachelor of Arts, Creative Writing : University of Michigan , Ann Arbor 1996;
Master of Science, Traditional Oriental Medicine. Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, Chicago 2012;
Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Five Branches University, San Jose 2020 .
She was an instructor at Pacific College Health and Science,2020-22, where she was named Chair of the Clinical Department: Pacific College . As a clinical she was responsible for grand rounds, supervised offsite at Project Vida, a place very beloved to her , where she would continue a relationship until the present.
Along the way she has collaborated with hospital based research opportunities such as : GRACE (sickle cell) and FAB (breast cancer) NIH funded study University of Illinois (Chicago) , 2023; and Assisted Opioid Reduction, an acupuncture program that was funded by a SAMHSA award at Cook County Hospital ( Chicago), 2022.
She has worked with patients and addiction and mental health specialists as an acupuncturist at Above and beyond Addiction Recovery. This space is identified with growth and evolution in her self narrative as much as the classroom.
Khadijah is an active Inter disciplinarian. She has been a member of performances and panels that intersect with healing and growth she has been a panelist in spaces that have been called re seen as healing spaces for example , at Woman Made Gallery, she took part in a discussion on “The black female body as archive and memory”
She has lectured and led workshops including at Depaul University , Department of Transformative Justice and Black Diaspora Studies , and Urban Growers Collective
Khadijah is a member of a time bank collective and a food co op locally. Compelled by a brilliant dream, she was drawn to and welcomed into Five Point . That was already three years ago. She enjoys walking to her sessions. Her cat is a black piano .
