I’m a licensed clinical psychologist that identifies as a Black, bisexual, cisgender woman. My work with LGBTQIA2S+ folks is informed by my lived experience, as well as my clinical education and training. Specifically, I was born in Germany and come from an Air Force family, which exposed me to people from various cultures around the world. This experience engendered a sense that the differences within humanity are what help us to thrive and progress as a whole. Furthermore, from an early age, I was aware that I was a Black, bisexual female. Therefore, I understand what it is like to be subjected to various forms of oppression, but also not to let that diminish my pride in who I am or where I come from. This also informs my approach to therapy which is eclectic (in terms of using several evidence – based treatment models/interventions) and intersectional (by valuing the different aspects of a person’s identity).
