Lisa A. Breisch, L.C.P.C., Psy.D. is the founder and director of Harmony Center for Holistic Psychotherapy established in 2011. She has 29 years of practice in the mental health field. Dr. Breisch graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1994 with a Bachelor Degree in Applied Psychology. She graduated from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1996 with an M.A. degree and again in 2001 with a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. She has been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois since 1998. Dr. Breisch has been practicing in the Rockford, IL area since 1999. Dr. Breisch is also the Clinical Training Director for college and graduate students pursuing a career in Psychology. Dr. Breisch is originally from Chicago, IL. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her numerous pets, gardening, arts/crafts, travelling, outdoor activities, practicing meditation and prayer, collecting crystals, music/dancing, and having fun with her wife, Kristy. Dr. Lisa and Mrs. Kristy Breisch have been married for 11+ years. Mrs. Kristy Breisch is the Office Manager and Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in LGBTQIA+ Massage and Bodywork services. Together they provide mind-body-spirit care. LGBT+ Women Owned and Operated Minority Business. Dr. Breisch identifies as a cis-gender female and is demi-sexual pansexual. Mrs. Kristy Breisch identifies as a cis-gender female and is bisexual. Dr. Breisch has a lifelong interest in human rights and has been an active advocate for mental health, size and weight diversity, LGBTQIA+ issues, and alternative holistic health practices.

Spectrum of Rockford L.G.B.T.+ Counseling is a program of the Harmony Center for Holistic Psychotherapy. Spectrum was founded in 2008 by Dr. Lisa Breisch and a team of L.G.B.T. counselors. It was created to provide counseling and resource services to the L.G.B.T.+ community due to a lack of social support services in the Rockford, IL area. We are proud to be the only agency in the area that provides counseling services, resources, testing, networking, and referrals to this great L.G.B.T.I.Q.A.+ community! ​Spectrum of Rockford L.G.B.T.+ Counseling Program’s Center is a safe place for those who identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Pansexual, Transgender, Gender Diverse, Non-Binary, Genderqueer, or Intersex. We also welcome those who are questioning their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. We also love and support the straight and cis-gender people who support the L.G.B.T.I.Q.A.+ community. We provide supportive counseling services by clinicians who specialize in L.G.B.T.I.Q.A.+ issues. Some of our clinicians and staff are also members of the L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ community, too. We provide therapy services such as individual therapy, child/teen therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. Additionally, we provide psychological evaluations for our gender diverse community who want hormone replacement therapy (H.R.T.), puberty blockers, or gender confirmation (affirmation) surgery or procedures, and need surgical letters of approval. These surgeries or procedures may involve the following: various plastic surgeries; facial feminization or masculinization surgery (cheekbones, chin, jaw nose); tracheal shave or chondrolaryngoplasty; chest or “top surgery” such as double mastectomy, breast augmentation (enlargement or reduction), or breast implant reconstruction surgery; genital or “bottom surgery” such as hysterectomy (removal of uterus), oophorectomy or ovary removal surgery, metoidioplasty aka “meta”, phalloplasty (construction of penis), scrotoplasty or orchiectomy (testicle or scrotum removal), penectomy, or feminizing genitoplasty (construction of vagina and labia). Our L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ community includes those who reside in the Rockford, Illinois, Winnebago County, and surrounding area including (but not limited to) the following cities: Argyle, IL Belvidere, IL Byron, IL Caledonia, IL Capron, IL Cherry Valley, IL Durand, IL Freeport, IL ​Lake Summerset, IL Loves Park, IL Machesney Park, IL ​New Milford, IL ​Oregon, IL Pecatonica, IL Poplar Grove, IL Rockford, IL Rockton, IL Roscoe, IL Seward, IL Shirland, IL South Beloit, IL Winnebago, IL Beloit, WI Janesville, WI. PRACTICUM AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS AVAILABLE
Dr. Lisa Breisch offers Bachelor’s level Counseling and Master’s level therapy Practicum and Internship training programs. Dr. Breisch has 29 years of experience practicing in the mental health field. She has been training students for the past 15 years (since 2007) and has taught psychology classes at the College of DuPage and Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL. Students from all schools are accepted. Many students from Illinois schools have trained with Dr. Breisch from the following colleges and graduate schools:
Adler School of Professional Psychology, Argosy University/Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Northern Illinois University, Rock Valley College, and Rockford Career College.
TRAINING INCLUDES:
One or more hours of individual one-on-one clinical supervision per week. One or more hours of group and/or peer supervision per week. Students will do clinical shadowing of Dr. Breisch in sessions and students will be shadowed in their sessions. Review of audiotaped and videotaped sessions. General and clinical psychology and psychological testing. Private practice and independent contractor emphasis (including all steps from the first client phone call to termination). Professional development, field trips, and CEU training (at the student’s cost). Basic and advanced skill training with various diverse populations (children (age 2+), teens, adults, families, couples/polys, and therapy groups, and those of all classifications (genders/ethnicities/religious beliefs/sexual orientations/economic status/education/disability) mental health conditions , and using various treatment methodologies. Start and end dates for training are flexible. Collaboration and consultation with school supervisors and training programs. Training in general psychology and psychological testing. Optional additional training in our specialty tracts in either Alternative/Holistic Health or LGBTQIA Health. Extended training and supervision are available for post-degree and post-licensure students and practitioners. Possible independent contractor positions are available upon successful completion of academic program, training, and licensure. Certificate of training provided.
