As an LGBTQI+ individual, I have seen first hand the difficulties being a member of a marginalized community can create. I have also heard so many horror stories from my LGBTQI+ clients about their experiences with medical providers, including mental health care practictioners. I strive to provide affirming, supportive counseling to all of my clients. I have extensive training in and knowledge of the unique needs of this community, and I have even offered training to other counselors on some of the more nuanced components to this community. My clinical work with clients includes concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship counseling, exploring gender identity and/or sexual orientation, providing support in coming out. I also have experience writing letters for gender affirming medical care, and have received training in WPATH standards for gender affirming care.
As a therapist, I incorporate my knowledge of psychology, education strategies, and popular culture to enhance the therapeutic process by providing clients the space to explore their presenting concerns through a lens that is easily understood and relatable. I have additional training in multiple treatment modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
