Given my identities, I have had a very specific lived experience. My clients, even if they share identities with me, also have very specific lived experiences. My goal in therapy is to best understand you and how you move through the world. Because therapy is two (or more) human beings meeting to discuss a wide variety of topics, it is of the utmost importance to me that the therapeutic space can be safe and healing. I often rely on collaboration and rapport building when beginning a therapeutic journey and try to check in often that we are meeting your goals.
I lean on Narrative and Feminist therapy techniques while employing a queer, intersectional, and phenomenological lens. This means that I will do my best to understand the stories that you tell about your life, while using a culturally conscious and social-justice-oriented lens to connect the narratives that you are describing. I enjoy working with clients who want to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotions, while remaining mindful of social issues, and also gain some tools for their “mental health toolbox” along the way!
In the past, I have worked most often with relationship issues, anxiety, communication, and polyamory/non-monogamy. But I am excited to work with you, whatever identities you may hold!
