I’m Dr. Quỳnh-Hương Nguyễn (pronounced Gwin-Huh-ong Nu-When), founder of Patterns Pivot, an evidence-informed life coaching practice that helps people recognize the patterns shaping their lives so they can make intentional, sustainable change.
My work is rooted in the belief that people are not broken. Many of the behaviors we struggle with today once helped us survive. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” I help clients explore, “What happened, what have you learned, and what would you like to choose moving forward?”
My approach combines behavioral science, psychology, accountability, reflection, and practical action while honoring the realities of identity, culture, relationships, community, and lived experience. I believe meaningful growth happens when people feel seen, respected, and supported—not judged.
Before founding Patterns Pivot, I spent more than eight years working across higher education, nonprofit organizations, leadership development, community-based programs, and organizational training. Throughout my career, I’ve supported adolescents, college students, professionals, caregivers, nonprofit leaders, educators, community organizers, and adults navigating significant life transitions. My experience includes leadership coaching, career development, facilitation, crisis response, program development, behavioral support, and helping people navigate complex personal and professional decisions.
As a second-generation Vietnamese American, multilingual speaker, queer professional, late-diagnosed ADHDer, and someone who has personally navigated depression, anxiety, PTSD, burnout, family expectations, identity development, and life transitions, I understand how personal history, culture, and systems can shape the patterns we carry. These experiences inform my work without defining it. They help me approach each client with humility, curiosity, compassion, and respect for the complexity of being human.
Patterns Pivot proudly provides LGBTQIA+ affirming coaching and welcomes clients of all identities, backgrounds, cultures, faiths, relationship structures, abilities, and lived experiences. I strive to create a coaching space where people can show up authentically without needing to explain or minimize who they are.
My coaching commonly supports adults navigating:

• Life transitions

• Accountability and habit change
• Career and professional development
• First-generation and immigrant family experiences
• Neurodivergent experiences (including ADHD and autism)

I remain committed to lifelong learning and regularly engage with peer-reviewed research, continuing education, and interdisciplinary scholarship in psychology, behavior change, neuroscience, identity development, trauma-informed practice, leadership, and community well-being. Patterns Pivot is an evidence-informed practice, meaning I translate current research into practical, accessible conversations while recognizing that every person’s lived experience is unique.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief:
Awareness creates choice.
When we better understand the patterns we’ve inherited, learned, or developed, we gain the freedom to decide which ones still serve us—and which ones we’re ready to change.
