My experience with providing care to LGBTQ+ patients started at the bedside when I was an RN. When I returned to graduate school to get my Doctorate of Nursing practice, I learned more about the disparities facing LGBTQ+ persons and wanted to find ways to have a large-scale impact. As a part of my curriculum, I completed a DNP project, which was centered around LGBTQ+ health. I created a web-based continuing education for providers regarding transgender health care for a large multispecialty health system in Seattle, WA. I have made it a priority to continue self-learning through CME, reading academic journals and non-academic sources as well, and connecting with the LGBTQ+ community outside of work. It is my goal to make my career centered around caring for and supporting the LGBTQ+ community however I can.
