Hi, I’m Sarah Ortega, MA, LPC-Associate, owner of Road to Serenity Counseling, PLLC, in San Antonio, Texas. I practice under the supervision of Dr. Kevin Milligan, PhD, LPC-S, and offer in-person counseling in San Antonio and telehealth for clients throughout Texas.
I work with adolescents, college students, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, and trauma-informed. I want clients to feel comfortable showing up as themselves, including when they are still figuring out what that means.
My approach to LGBTQ+ affirming counseling centers on respecting your identity, your relationships, and your choices about what you share and when. I respect clients’ names and pronouns and make room to explore identity without pressure to adopt a label or come out to others. Counseling can also offer space to discuss family expectations, belonging, discrimination, boundaries, and the emotional impact of feeling misunderstood. Your goals guide our work together.
I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University–San Antonio. My clinical experience includes working with college students from varied backgrounds through the University of the Incarnate Word’s Behavioral Health Services, as well as supporting children, adolescents, and adults in other care settings. I have also completed trauma-focused training through the Arizona Trauma Institute.
My counseling style is collaborative, person-centered, and strengths-based. I draw from approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches, adapting our work to your needs and preferences. I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and autism, and understanding how identity, culture, and lived experience shape mental health.
As a Hispanic, first-generation college graduate, I value making room for conversations about culture, family, and the expectations we carry. You deserve a space where your experiences are heard and your goals matter.
My practice is private pay, with a limited number of sliding-scale appointments available. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can discuss what you are looking for and whether working together feels like a good fit.
