Sean Lare is a licensed clinical social worker who is passionate about serving the transgender and gender diverse community by providing psychotherapy, leading advocacy work, and educating others on the varied experiences of this community. Through his consultation work, he has presented about working with LGB and Transgender clients, students, and employees at regional and local conferences, provided trainings to schools, behavioral health organizations, hospitals, and employers, and participated in numerous panel discussions and guest lecture presentations in undergraduate- and graduate-level classes. Mr. Lare has been invited to contribute to several community and policy planning meetings, and has participated in advocacy efforts to increase services and rights for and to meet the diverse needs of transgender people. The focus of his psychotherapy practice in Columbia, MD is working with children, teens, and adults who are transgender or gender diverse and their families, and providing supervision and consultation to other providers. Additionally, Sean is a transgender man (assigned female at birth, he also has the experience of identifying as lesbian prior to his transition to living as male). He is a member of NASW, WPATH (World Professional Association of Transgender Health), and AASECT (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists).
