Shaian Assadi, Licensed Mental Health Therapist
Welcome to My Practice!
Are you seeking a compassionate and understanding therapist who truly understands your unique challenges? You’ve come to the right place. My name is Shaian Assadi, and I am here to help you become the best version of yourself—the version you envision and deserve. My passion for advocating for marginalized populations has been a driving force since I was young. My journey began in high school, where I joined the Gay-Straight Alliance club, actively sharing articles and resources to support the queer community at school. This early commitment to advocacy continued to shape my educational and professional path.
While at the University of North Texas, I was a proud member of the Center for Psychosocial Health Research. Our research team focused on addressing the unique stressors and challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+/HIV population, striving to find effective ways to better serve them. I had the honor of presenting a research poster at the Association for Psychological Science, titled “Shame Due to Heterosexism, Sexual Communication, and Attachment: Correlates of Emotional Well-Being.” This work explored the specific issues affecting the aging LGBTQIA+ community and proposed strategies to enhance their emotional well-being. My involvement extended beyond research, as I also participated in Pride marches and fundraising efforts for Life Walk, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the HIV population.
Throughout my academic career, I have pursued extensive training and education to become a skilled and empathetic counselor for LGBTQIA+ individuals. I understand the complexities of how race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and religion intersect with sexuality and gender identity. This awareness allows me to provide tailored and compassionate counseling that recognizes the unique experiences of each individual.
After earning my degree from Southern Methodist University, I joined a private practice specializing in counseling LGBTQIA+ individuals, non-heteronormative couples, and families. My approach is inclusive, affirming, and client-centered, ensuring that everyone feels seen, heard, and respected.
