I do not have any formal training with LGTQ+ clients. However, I have had multiple individuals and couples who identified as LGTQ+, and was able to speak openly with them about their presenting issue (s). I do not hesitate to ask questions as needed. I currently support an organization for LGTQ+ individuals via sending birthday and holiday cards. I have a son who is in the process of transgendering and have learned a lot through speaking with him (he has not changed pronouns to she/her yet). I am able to see issues related to being LGTQ+, yet I see and treat these clients as individuals and do not simply see their sexual identity as their only form of identification.
