Dr. Kilwein obtained their PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Wyoming in 2019. They are a board certified clinical psychologist licensed to practice in the states of California, Colorado, Tennessee, and Wyoming, as well as credentialed through both PSYPACT® and the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. Dr. Kilwein has been working with transgender and gender expansive patients since 2018, when they practiced alongside primary care physicians and surgeons at Denver Health’s LGBTQ+ Center of Excellence in Denver, Colorado to provide behavioral health services, hormone replacement therapy, and referrals to surgical procedures for transgender and gender expansive patients. Their current practice maintains a caseload of over 50% transgender/gender expansive patients and they have written dozens of behavioral health letters of support for hormone therapy and gender affirming surgical procedures. Dr. Kilwein is well-versed in The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care – Version 8, is a member in good standing of WPATH, has completed the WPATH Foundations and Advanced Mental Health Courses, and participates in the Transgender Health: Comprehensive Approaches in Primary Care Extension for Community Health Outcomes Colorado series. Finally, Dr. Kilwein offers training and consultation to mental health and allied health professionals on gender-affirming care and behavioral health evaluations/support letters.
