I stand in alliance with local LGTBTQIA+ communities and engage with local youth support groups in particular as well as River City Pride. I have worked in collaboration with the NAACP local branch and multiple community partners to create a series of youth-oriented mental health forums to provide a safe and affirming space for all youth, and our collaboration has won the trust of one of our premiere LGBTQIA+ youth support groups and the ongoing participation and engagement of their youth. I have offered CME to the Deaconess Family Medicine Residency about gender-affirming care and the social determinants of health. I have also provided overviews of gender-affirming care to Deaconess Clinic staff and to local parents of gender-diverse youth (prior to Indiana’s transphobic bill criminalizing this appropriate care.) I am also a member of WPATH.

This community health clinic serves a broad and diverse community including residents who can trace back multiple generations in the city and area and many New American families. We provide care to all ages and all genders. Our wrap-around services include case managers, health therapists, and specialty care including psychiatry, dermatology, and addiction recovery. We strive to meet people where they are. We know that our patients are the ones best qualified to say who they are and what their priorities are. We believe Love is Love. We strive to see the whole person as they wish to be seen. Our clinic provides gender-affirming care including maintaining a welcoming space from the very first visit. We do provide hormonal support for gender-diverse patients, although state law has intruded on our ability to provide such care for youth < 18. We advocate ceaselessly for all ages to be seen and valued for who they are. We stand by our patients. We provide referrals for gender-affirming procedures to specialty clinics and assist with all needed documentation, including "support letters."
