Dr. Reece-Nguyen [he/him/his] is a Board-certified general and pediatric anesthesiologist and Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford Children’s Hospital where he serves as a diversity, equity, and inclusion leader in his department, throughout Stanford Medicine, and at the national level as the acting Vice-Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee of the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia.
As a cisgender gay man, Dr. Reece-Nguyen understands the importance of LGBTQIA+ advocacy work and the ever-increasing need for improved LGBTQIA+ medical education, focusing specifically on the value of gender-affirming perioperative care. Dr. Reece-Nguyen’s work promotes perioperative education and research efforts aimed at improving the healthcare experience for all transgender and gender-diverse adolescents. He provides anesthesia for transgender and gender-diverse adolescents/young adults up to age 25 for any surgery type. His clinical focus is ensuring all TGD patients have an affirming and positive experience throughout their perioperative hospital stay. Dr. Reece-Nguyen is a frequent invited lecturer around the country discussing the importance of LGBTQIA medical education, transgender perioperative care, and gender-affirmation.
Dr. Reece-Nguyen is a member of the World/US Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH/USPATH), American Society of Anesthesiologists, Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ Equality, and serves as the LGBTQIA+ Liaison for Stanford Department of Anesthesiology.
