Hi there! I’m Dr. Unity Walker. My history in the field of LGBTQIA+ advocacy far predates my professional career. I first began working in marginalized advocacy over 12 years ago at my undergraduate institution. I maintained steady involvement throughout my education and was hired to my university’s first-ever paid position for LGBTQIA+ advocacy. Upon graduation, I moved to another institution and helped found our school’s office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Throughout this time, I taught and led hundreds of classes and meetings on behalf of the LGBTQIA+ community, researched how to provide effective care to marginalized clients, and supervised beginning counselors with respect to their ability to serve the LGBTQIA+ community.
With respect to professional practice, I have served the LGBTQIA+ community for five years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I currently work in private practice providing support specifically to the LGBTQIA+ community.
