My practice predominantly focuses on medication management. I also provide psychotherapy, but have only limited availability. I believe people have the capacity for self-awareness and choice, and I help my clients to accept themselves and embrace their full potential for growth and change. I especially welcome members of the LGBTQ+ community, and I make a continuing effort to learn about their specific needs and treatment issues. I have attended several continued education trainings and lectures over the years. I deeply listen to what my clients share with me, but I am clear that it is not my clients’ job to educate me and understand the their frustrations from past experiences.
Dr. Socolar was a tremendous help to me. I had to find a new provider because my insurance changed but I would highly recommend her to anyone in the queer community.
One of the first questions she asked me when we met were: “What are your preffered pronouns, and preferred name?”. She’s extremely inclusive of the LGBTQIA+ community and a great Ally. I never felt out of place or judged for being transgender.
She’s also very knowledgeable and aware of HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and how it can affect mental health.
I will be sad not to see her anymore but I would recommend her to anyone.
