My name is Mandy Smith (they/them), and I have been a nurse since 2005, primarily working in the wide world of oncology.
During my nurse practitioner program, I got to do a clinical rotation with the NP who provides gender-affirming care to my partner’s spouse, and some of my friends. This experience led me to the career that was meant for me, a career that I could never have dreamed of as a young queer college kid in the early 2000s.
There is nothing more fulfilling to me than providing a safe space for people to explore their medical concerns on their own terms. I take pride in being a real difference maker for folks who have medical anxiety as a result of traumatizing experiences that didn’t honor their humanity or unique identity. It fills me with joy to learn about each person’s goals for their gender expression and for their overall health, and to be the supportive provider that helps empower them to get there.
That’s why I started my own practice, free from the hassles of insurance and discouraging fees for each visit. I operate on a direct primary care model, where members pay a monthly fee to have access to care when they need or want it. It’s basically like having a provider on retainer for whatever comes up- no more co-pays, surprise bills, or visits too short to address your concerns.
If there’s something I can help you with, I hope you’ll reach out. I’m truly invested in caring for you, and helping our community thrive.
