Hi there, I’m Lavena McCullum , PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the Clinical Director of MindHealth Psychiatry, a psychiatry practice serving patients across Oregon and Washington. As a dedicated LGBTQ+ ally and a member of the neurodivergent community myself, I bring both clinical training and lived experience to the care I provide. I built this practice around a simple belief: everyone deserves mental health care where they feel safe, respected, and fully seen, with no shame and no judgment.
My clinical specialty is ADHD, and I completed specialty training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for ADHD through the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Being neurodivergent myself, I understand firsthand how often ADHD is misread, minimized, or missed entirely, and how much it matters to have a provider who gets it. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I practice comprehensive, whole-person psychiatric care that pairs thoughtful medication management with evidence-based therapeutic strategies, and I coordinate closely with trusted therapy partners when a patient needs a modality outside my specialty. I also work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, and related concerns.
Research has shown that ADHD in particular is frequently overlooked and under-treated in queer and gender-diverse adults. In my practice, your identity is affirmed as a matter of course, not as an exception. That means inclusive and respectful intake, a firm non-discrimination commitment, and structured mechanisms for patient feedback so care stays accountable to the people receiving it.
I see patients entirely by telehealth throughout Oregon and Washington, with in-person availability at our three offices in Salem, Newberg, and Vancouver. I’m currently accepting new patients and often have next-day appointments available. If you’re looking for a psychiatric provider who will meet you exactly as you are, I’d be glad to work with you.
