A lot of people who’s brains or experiences fall outside the norm have had their needs pathologized or inadequately supported, including in therapy. This can make it harder to identify what is a result of trauma, anxiety, depression, etc. and what is part of your brain functioning that might need more support. My approach parses through the nuances of neurodivergent traits so that we can focus on meeting your goals in a way that is supportive, sustainable, and not overwhelming or harmful.
As a queer, trans, and auDHD clinician, my work is grounded in the principles of disability justice and anti-oppressive frameworks that center your bodily autonomy and personal agency. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative. While I see people of all identities, I specialize in seeing youth and adults at the intersection of LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and disabled experiences, including those in the kink and poly communities. Within this specialty, I use the social identity definition of neurodivergent, which includes anyone who’s brain differs from the majority.
In my practice, I often pull from ACT, parts work, narrative therapy, and existential therapy. I have a deep knowledge of executive functioning, neurodivergent cognition, and sensory processing that I often use to help clients understand their experiences and support needs. I have worked with the queer and trans community at crises lines, peer support groups, and professional groups and associations. I currently support neurodivergent people outside of my clinical work as a social worker in work-based learning programs at Tech Unlimited and a workshop facilitator at Autistic Adults NYC.
My professional experience includes work in neuroscience, epigenetic, and public health research, copywriting, and afterschool educational programs. Outside of work, I enjoy singing, deep diving into my special interests, and listening to whatever book seems most appealing from the Queer Liberation Library. I have a MSW and MPH, where I specialized in looking health and mental health for neurodivergent and neuroqueer people.
I offer appointments for individuals and couples in-person and virtually. For clients who are non-speaking or prefer other modes of communication, Alternative or Augmented Communication (AAC) options are available. If you think we’d be a good fit, please reach out over email so we can set up a free phone consultation.
