Dr. Bugg is a board-certified family medicine physician trained in full-spectrum primary care with emphasis in LGBTQ+ and HIV care, travel medicine and in-office procedures. He grew up in a farming town in rural Kentucky, then moved to Florida for medical school and eventually residency in St. Petersburg where he now lives and practices. His small town upbringing without a large specialist presence helped him realize the importance of full spectrum family practice and taking care of his patient’s needs thoroughly and empathetically, regardless of their backgrounds or diverse needs. Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community also allows him to relate to his patients without judgement, which is arguably the most important part of providing thorough and thoughtful treatment. His practice is Direct Primary Care, meaning they do not take insurance but rather use a monthly-membership based model; this allows him to treat YOU, rather than have his hands tied by the increasingly frustrating limitations placed by insurance companies. He is also trained to care for HIV+ patients and other infectious diseases that affect our community, as well as providing PreP and doxyPEP for prevention. He treats transgender patients and helps initiate and continue necessary medications to help with their transition in a safe, open and loving atmosphere.
