Fuelled by connection, creativity, and flexibility, helping others find their voice is Alyssa’s “why”. A cisgender East-Coaster based in Toronto, Alyssa (she/her) is a Speech-Language Pathologist, Voice Therapist, Gender Affirming Voice Coach, and Clinically-Trained Singing Voice Specialist.
A lifelong voice enthusiast, musician, and singer, Alyssa studied, performed and taught singing before earning a degree in Music. She discovered her passion for voice therapy when an autoimmune vocal injury affected her ability to continue using her voice. This experience led her to pursue Speech-Language Pathology with a focus on voice therapy, and she has since dedicated her career to assessing, training, and rehabilitating voices. She spent several years assisting ENTs with stroboscopic laryngeal evaluations in a gender-diverse and Trans+ safe clinic.
Over the past nine years, and beginning with one of the first gender affirming speech-language pathology voice labs East of Montreal, Alyssa has proudly supported hundreds of Trans+ voices throughout Ontario and Nova Scotia on their gender affirming voice journeys.
With a passion for coaching, Alyssa takes an individualized approach rather than focusing too heavily on the medical model, and emphasizes guided voice embodiment, exploration, and play to help folks unlock and connect with their voice and communication.
Alyssa is a member of Rainbow Health Ontario and the 519 Ontario and continues to centre her learning in voice and cultural competence from LGBTQIA+ and Trans+ SLPs and of course, her clients.
