My name is Amenaghawon Ugwuede, and I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in delivering medication management alongside psychotherapy to individuals requiring additional support. With a focus on harm reduction and patient-centered recovery, I tailor my approach to each individual’s needs. Central to my practice is empowering patients through education about their diagnosis and medications, fostering a therapeutic alliance grounded in trust and open communication. I specialize in addressing the mental health needs of Black communities and the first and second generation children of immigrants, recognizing the unique challenges they often face in accessing care.
Having worked extensively with LGBTQ+ clients, I have gained a deep understanding of their diverse needs and identities. Through ongoing education, I stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in LGBTQ+ mental health care, ensuring that my practice remains current and effective. My approach is characterized by empathy, respect, and cultural competency, as I strive to create a safe and affirming environment for all individuals under my care. Continuously reflecting on my own biases and seeking supervision when necessary, I am dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to LGBTQ+ individuals, supporting them on their journey towards mental health and well-being.
