My name is Andrea Schlueter, pronouns She, Her, Hers.

I have nursed both of my children. My first, I struggled with undiagnosed lip/ tongue ties and low supply.
I nursed my 1st child through pregnancy and then tandem-fed both of my children. Nolan, my oldest nursed until 6 years old. Sullivan, my second child is still currently nursing at 5 years old.

7 years ago, I began working at my local WIC office as a breastfeeding peer helper, during this time, I also worked at the neighboring county’s WIC office as a breastfeeding peer helper.

I have obtained extensive training regarding lactation. Well over 500+ hours of CEUs with conferences, webinars, and in-person training.

I am also a hotline worker for the Appalachian Breastfeeding Network, which takes calls from parents all over regarding their lactation questions and concerns. I have been a hotline operator for the last two years.

Along with this, I have also obtained my Certified Lactation Specialist certificate, Certified Lactation Counselor certificate, and have attended and participated in three DEI and inclusivity courses.

I am also a La Leche League Leader.

My initiative, especially within my small, extremely rural conservative area is to give all parents the same quality care and comfort that others receive. Along with helping parents/babes, is to also be and find a safe place for our local youth to help combat poor mental health, and homophobia/transphobic aggression happening within our community.
