As a gay Black man, there have been times in my life when I would have benefited from the support, guidance, and expertise of clinicians and other professionals who either looked like me and/or shared something of my experience as a man, a person of color, someone who identifies along the LGBTQ+ spectrum, or any combination of those identities. I did not always have the opportunity to receive support from someone who looked like me or understood some aspects of my life experience, but, every time I did, it was transformative. Because I know how difficult it can be to find a therapist who is an out gay man of color, I want to do what I can to contribute to an increase in the number of gay men of color available to provide psychotherapy.
I pride myself on creating a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space to be seen, heard, and acknowledged for exactly who you are while identifying your unique path to wellbeing. Utilizing an eclectic, integrative approach to help clients become the most authentic version of themselves, I guide them to: (1) reveal parts of themselves that have been hidden away (for whatever reason), (2) embrace the beauty of who they are today and offer opportunities for reframing their past (as appropriate), and (3) empower clients to choose how they want to show up in their lives going forward.
I am committed to helping clients find their unique path to wellbeing and uncover and reveal the most authentic version of themselves. I have over 15 years of experience providing individual, group, and couple therapy, and I am also a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).
It is always humbling whenever a client decides to invite me along on their journey to greater wellbeing as both guide and witness. It is a responsibility I do not take lightly. If you need help getting from where you are now to where you want to be, I invite you to reach out to me so that we can explore whether we are a good fit for one another.
