As a professional counselor that provides LGBTQ+ services, I believe in living outside of the lines and being our true authentic selves. I enjoy helping others rebuild from trauma, explore their identities, cope with anxiety, and find their inner strengths. I write WPATH letters for surgical procedures, while I am also a part of the Gender Affirming Letter Access Project (GALAP) to improve access to gender-affirming medical care. I use a collaborative and eclectic approach to counseling, where my clients are my focus for care. My goal for clients is to feel heard, seen, and affirmed.
I obtained my Master’s of Education in School Counseling from UNC, where I won the Galassi-Brown Social Justice Award for advocating for LGBTQ rights in schools. At UNC’s LGBTQ Center, I received my credentials as a Safe Zone practitioner specializing in transgender, and intersex folks. Additionally, I presented at the NCSCA on the benefits of GSA’s in middle schools and won an honorable mention. Upon graduating, I was a school counselor in a rural high school. I initiated a professional development on LGBTQ inclusive practices for all school staff, promoted an inclusive homecoming and prom, and I collaborated with students to bring back the GSA. At the district level, I collaboratively initiated a LGBTQ professional development for school psychologist, social workers, and counselors. Recently, I have transitioned into a full-time private practice counselor.
Currently, I attend trainings and professional developments from the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center, American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association, and the Human Rights Campaign. I am working towards being fully licensed as a LCMHC, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, and 200 Yoga Trauma-Informed Teacher.
