As an openly gay man, I have had my own experiences of not being affirmed or seen, especially when it came to my healthcare. It is my hope to create a welcoming space in my clinical practice for people of all identities; a space where folks are able to safely reflect on difficult subjects without fear or being shamed for who they are or what they experienced. Outside the therapy space, I particularly enjoy advocating and educating others in my community on a range of topics that impact the broader LGBTQ+ community, especially those that relate to the intersection of mental health and addiction.
I am an ACT-trained, trauma-informed Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist who focuses less on labels and more on the function of the challenges clients face. Understanding how symptoms or patterns developed and the purpose they continue to serve can often reveal the path toward meaningful change.
My work draws from EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). These three approaches that share a deep respect for client autonomy, present-moment awareness, and compassion. Through this multidisciplinary lens, together we can begin to understand the function of behaviors while honoring your natural capacity for healing and growth. This integration allows therapy to be both structured and flexible, helping clients process the past, connect with their values, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
I specialize in supporting individuals navigating LGBTQIA+ concerns, addiction, trauma, and phobias; helping clients break free from old patterns that create disconnection or keep them feeling stuck. I am also an EMDR-certified therapist, EMDRIA-approved Consultant-in-Training, and am currently completing advanced training in EMDR therapy.
To me, therapy is about much more than reducing symptoms or simply feeling better. My hope is that each person I work with feels recognized in their lived experiences and begins to move toward a meaningful life. If that sounds like something that appeals to you, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to hearing from you.
