I am a queer cisgendered woman in Bellingham, WA. After opening my own practice in 2017, I earned a doctorate in Speech Language Pathology from Northwestern University in 2021 to ensure that I had all the education and skills to continue to provide the most inclusive, research driven, up to date therapy that I can. My business partner and I opened Catalyst Therapies with the intent to create a welcoming community space where all people regardless of gender, sexuality, race or cultural identity will not only be welcomed but celebrated.
For the LGBTQ community specifically, we offer gender affirming voice training to assist those who find an incongruence between their gender identity and their voice to find their most authentic voice. We have been providing this service at Catalyst since 2017. I took over this program as of 2019, though my work with voice patients extends back through most of my career.
We also work hard to support families in the LGBTQ community even if they are not specifically looking for voice training. Parents of all identities are welcome to bring their children here. We continually update our treatment materials, toys, and books to make sure we are as inclusive as possible.
We are committed to maintaining an uplifting and supportive environment here at Catalyst. All staff are required to participate in continuing education related to inclusivity and diversity. We attended the Say It Out Loud conference as a team this year and it sparked wonderful conversation.
