I am committed to improving accessibility of ABA services to sexual and gender minority (SGM) individuals and their families. I aim to create safe spaces for clients to explore and express their sexual and gender identities, with the understanding that healthcare providers must serve the whole person for optimal health outcomes. Ensuring safe spaces for SGM folks is especially critical for ABA providers since we often serve autistic people, who are more likely to report a gender-diverse identity compared to neurotypical people and at increased risk for harm. In addition to incorporating this mission into my practice, I continue to engage with SGM resources to further my own education and I advocate for SGM practitioners and clients through various professional organizations.
