I am a queer woman. My identity is both deeply personal and political and informs my work as a therapist and dietitian. I believe that therapy is inherently radical in that it aims to dismantle and abolish systems of oppression and the ways we as individuals have internalized them.
I believe strongly in demystifying therapy and the therapeutic process. I am invested in dismantling power structures within the therapeutic relationship and in working collaboratively with you, my client. My passion is in working with individuals at the intersections of LGBTQ+ identities and disordered eating, chronic dieting, weight and size oppression, and associated traumas. I believe therapy is political and my work with clients is rooted in our relationship while also embodying feminist and anti-oppression perspectives. I am passionate about dispelling myths related to diet culture and nutrition, challenging sizeism and healthism, and supporting clients in dismantling internalized weight stigma and food and body oppression.
I am a white, cis, able bodied, straight sized, queer femme therapist and dietitian. The vision that guides me is whole person liberation I believe that marginalization limits us all in our development, and in healing and growing to our full potential. My hope in working with you is that I can provide a safe space for self-exploration and healing from the role stigma and systemic oppression have had in your relationship with food and your body. I value the client therapist relationship and hold it as the primary focus as we work together on your journey to liberation!
It is my belief that food nourishes us in many ways and is also meant to be a source of pleasure, connection, cultural engagement, and celebration (among many other things)! I believe that our relationship with food and our bodies is most health promoting when we let go of expectations, labels, and control and begin to learn to relate in a way that honors our innate intuition and cultural heritage.
I love my clients and I also love my down time! Connection is my top value which means time with my loved ones – my family, friends, and my dog Roxy – is always recharging. Other loves of mine include taking advantage of the great Colorado outdoors, checking out live music, and roller skating on the street or at the skate park. My favorite daily ritual is sipping a hot cup of coffee in the peace of the early morning.
