I identify as a gay/queer, cisgender therapist with extensive experience both professionally and personally within the LGBTQ+ communities of many locations, including the Twin Cities, Madison, Chicago, and Seattle. Being clean/sober and in recovery myself, I find it meaningful to work with those who may be struggling with their own addictions, navigating early recovery, identifying successful harm reduction approaches, etc. I also have extensive experience working with depression/mood, anxiety/panic, trauma/abuse, crisis/suicide, self-injury/harm, and grief/loss.
I am a passionate, knowledgeable, and resilient licensed mental health professional who has worked with diverse client populations in clinical, supervisory, and managerial roles for over 15 years in the following settings: nonprofit community mental health clinics; an eating disorder clinic; a mood, anxiety, and self-injury clinic; Ecopsychology focused programming; a HIV/AIDS advocacy agency; mental health crisis/suicide phone lines and text lines; mobile crisis outreach teams; IRTS and crisis residential; and K-12 Day Treatment.
I align strongly with Edges Wellness Center’s commitment, the South Minneapolis practice I work for. Our practice centers the experiences of LGBTQIA+, disabled, Indigenous, immigrant, neurodivergent, and BIPOC communities, while offering affirming, trauma-informed care rooted in justice, accessibility, and respect. As we are all deserving of such support.
The human experience can be a complex and confusing burden to exist within at times. We can lose confidence in trusting ourselves, in the choices we make, in understanding our thoughts and feelings, and while navigating all sorts of relationships. I know this all too well, and I am sure you can relate to some degree. strive to meet you where you are at and tailor my therapeutic techniques off of our first sessions. While I pull from an eclectic mix of therapy types, I also remain open to your thoughts, feelings, and suggestions. You as the client are the expert on yourself. I’m here to listen, guide, prompt, ask, challenge. Through our shared efforts a therapeutic rapport grows and often facilitates healing. I would be honored to share space, listen, and provide guidance while you traverse your own life’s highs, lows, and everything in between.
