Hi there, I’m Dr. Young (she/they)!
I’m originally from the East Coast, but spent the past 5 years in Missouri while I completed medical school and earned a Masters in Public Health (MPH) degree. Despite the many challenges living and working in the Ozarks region of Missouri, I had the privilege of learning how to provide compassionate HIV and gender affirming care under an incredible attending physician and mentor. While I was passionate at baseline about LGBTQ+ care because of my lived experiences, working in a clinic that provided almost exclusively HIV and gender affirming care turned my passion into tangible, professional goals.
Additionally, I am extremely passionate about harm reduction, reproductive justice, and working with survivors of sexual and domestic violence. Because of my passion for working with the LGBTQ+ community and interest in the intersection of public policy, social determinants of health, and clinical medicine, I plan to obtain additional certification in HIV medicine through The American Academy of HIV Medicine. I am also strongly considering pursuing fellowship training in addiction medicine after residency.
I have completed several complex family planning trainings through Medical Students for Choice (MSFC) and International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), as well as numerous harm reduction courses through The National Harm Reduction Coalition.
I am a member of The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), The Society of Family Planning, The American Academy of HIV Medicine, and The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).
