I work with queer clients looking to live more fully in alignment with their values and to heal from the impacts of stigma, shame, and disconnection. I hold a certificate in trauma-informed counseling and have received specialized training in counseling gender and sexually marginalized clients, as well as specific training in working with LGBTQIA+ clients.
My approach to LGBTQ+ care is grounded in both clinical training and lived experience. As a cis, queer man from the evangelical South, I bring an understanding of how systems such as religion, family dynamics, and cultural expectations can shape identity development, internalized shame, and the process of coming into authenticity. I aim to create a space that is not only affirming but also attuned to the complexity and nuance of each client’s lived experience.
I often work with clients navigating identity exploration, coming out, religious trauma, relationship concerns, shame, anxiety, and life transitions. My clients tend to be thoughtful and reflective, though they may feel stuck or uncertain about their next steps. Together, we work toward building lives that feel more authentic, grounded, and intentional.
My broader framework is rooted in social justice. I actively consider how power, privilege, and systemic forces, including patriarchy, capitalism, and toxic masculinity, impact mental health and relational dynamics, both outside of and within the therapy room.
On the other side of therapy, clients often report feeling more connected to themselves, more confident in their identities and choices, and better able to navigate uncertainty while staying grounded in what matters most. My aim is to support you in creating a life that feels more spacious, intentional, and aligned.
If you’re considering starting or returning to therapy, I offer a free consultation to answer questions and explore whether we might be a good fit. You don’t need to have everything figured out to reach out.
