Dr. Ivan Stanford is originally from a small town in Australia. He came to UConn for Internal Medicine Residency and upon completing his residency joined the clinical and teaching faculty in 2022.
Before medical school he served as a Marine Engineer Officer in the Royal Australian Navy. He completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from University of New South Wales whilst studying at the Australian Defence Force Academy in 2010. After his initial period of service, he decided to make a career change and completed medical school at the University of Queensland School of Medicine in 2018. He completed Internal Medicine Residency training at University of Connecticut with a focus on outpatient medicine in 2022.
He is a primary care physician with a focus on LGBTQ+ care and gender affirming care. LGBTQIA+ services provided include gender affirming care including hormone replacement, sexual health (STI screening and treatment), PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), anal pap testing.
When not in the office he enjoys spending time hiking with his family including his two labradoodles.
