I am an optometrist that provides inclusive eye care to all identities. Our office, including all of our staff members, is a very trusting and safe place for all people. Many of our staff members are part of the LGBTQ+ community themselves, and if available at the time of your exam, can be requested to be part of your eye exam team. As an optometrist, I provide comprehensive eye care to all, but I am aware of the specific healthcare needs of the LGBTQ+ community. This includes increased prevalence of ocular diseases such as macular degeneration, cataracts, optic nerve disease, dry eye, and ocular surface diseases; ocular side effects from medications, including hormonal therapy; and ocular side effects from STIs. We can offer baseline testing (imaging of the macula and optic nerve, and visual field testing) prior to or early on in the initiation of hormonal therapy and throughout the entire length of the therapy. We can offer safe referrals for advanced ocular care, such as LASIK, cataract surgery, and retinal and cornea specialists, along with primary care referrals if needed for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. We offer gender neutral frame selections for all styles.
