T. “Scotty” Spurlin is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who is passionate about working with individuals and families to meet their goals for mental health and wellness. A native of Arkansas, he holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hendrix College in Conway, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, and a Master of Nursing Science from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Scotty’s 12 years of nursing experience in a variety of specialties, both in rural and urban settings, has given him a passion for focusing on the needs of the patient in front of him. As a PMHNP, Scotty is able to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe medication for a variety of mental health conditions. He strives to provide quality, compassionate, nonjudgmental care to older children, adolescents, and adults from all walks of life. Scotty believes all patients deserve access to excellent mental healthcare, regardless of geographical location, socioeconomic status, race, gender identity, or sexual orientation. He is a member of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality. As a gay person who grew up in Arkansas in a conservative, religious fundamentalist home, he understands the stigma and shame that are sometimes present, if only in the background. He also knows the anxiety of seeing a new provider and wondering if they will judge you simply for being your authentic self. His goal is to provide a safe space for you to do just that, while also providing excellent mental health care.
