I am a queer-identified, multiethnic Licensed Clinical Social Worker with advanced training in trauma (C.G.S. in Trauma Studies, Level II EMDR, Level I IFS, and Level 1 AEDP). I started this social enterprise because of the massive gap in quality mental healthcare services that Black and Brown communities, especially those who are QTPoC and LGBTQ2S+, face. I created this company to make a difference in the lives of others who have been historically marginalized and excluded by dominant groups.
My experiences are informed through a social justice lens. Having experienced various traumas in early life, which pushed me into the foster care system, I faced obvious challenges but also gained the great gifts of learning to rise and finding my voice in the midst of chaos, isolation, and confusion. The long winding path eventually led me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work at the age of 36, with the vision of eventually creating a space for others to find their strength, their voice, and rise.
In my spare time, I offer pro bono forensic evaluations to asylum seekers with Physicians for Human Rights, create native wildflower gardens for pollinators, and practice meditation within the Soto Japanese Zen Buddhism lineage.
Before becoming a licensed clinician, I explored and lived in various states and nations. One of my proudest accomplishments includes the two years I spent deepening my meditation practice while in residency at a Zen Center in the Southwest US, where I took refuge and the Bodhisattva Vow. I am a proud parent of two little ones and remain committed and active in doing my work so I can break the cycle of intergenerational trauma from being passed down to the next generation.
