My name is Maija (She/her/hers) and I have been a mental health therapist for about ten years. I have worked with members of the LGBTQ+ population for about five years. I work with persons who are seeking affirming care and support as they explore their sexual and/or gender identity along with offering support and intervention to other mental health concerns that often co-occur including matters (e.g. substance use/misuse, trauma, depression, anxiety). I use an integrative model in my approach to therapy that includes a framework that includes use of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed practices, psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Relational-Cultural Theory. I have attended several trainings throughout the years and have engaged in continuing education and research including special interest in health inequities.
