As a dietitian specializing in treating individuals with eating disorders, I have worked with many members of the LGTBQ+ community and understand some of the food issues and concerns that can be unique to different populations.
I have taken several webinars about best practices in nutrition counseling in the LGTBQ+ community. I’ve also completed an extensive Ally training with Utah State University.
I do recognize my privilege as a caucasian, heterosexual, cisgender woman. As such, it’s important to me that one of my labels also be “Ally”. I value my relationships with close family members, friends, and clients, who are members of the LGBTQ+ community. My goal is to provide an inclusive safe space for every client that I meet and counsel with.
