General pediatric care, including the care of sexual and gender diverse youth
I am a board-certified, private practice pediatrician in Kansas City, Missouri, and serve as Assistant Dean for Years 1 & 2 Medicine at the UMKC – School of Medicine. I received my medical degree at the UMKC – School of Medicine in 2003, trained in pediatrics at The Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, and completed my MPH from the University of Kansas in 2012. I have special interest in immunizations, social media in healthcare, and the health care of sexual and gender diverse youth. I have been published, lecture (including on the the healthcare of gay men and transgender youth) , and have served as a media resource both locally and nationally. I have completed training in the healthcare of transgender youth through the Los Angeles Gender Center and WPATH. I am a board member for FosterAdopt Connect, a local organization linking families (including LGBTQ families) with foster children, have led a review of LGBTQIA services at UMKC, and am a member of the Section on LGBT Heath and Wellness at the American Academy of Pediatrics. I self-identify as a cis-gender gay male and reside in downtown Kansas City with my husband, Dustin, and our son, Emmaus.
