I believe good therapy involves science, art, philosophy, spirituality, creativity, and playfulness. In therapy, we learn and practice new ways of living more fully and freely.
In addition to my mental health specialties (anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, relationship concerns), I have significant experience working with Trans/Nonbinary and LGBQA+ people, college and graduate students, transnational people, and high-achieving individuals. During my 18 years working on college campuses, I built systems of care for queer and trans students. I have led trainings on gender affirming care and led gender identity support groups for 6 years. I am a founding member of the LGBTQ+ Division in the Asian American Psychological Association.
My clients often describe me as engaging, compassionate, present and responsive. I use an integrative therapeutic approach that includes Acceptance and Commitment, Psychodynamic, Narrative, Humanistic, CBT, and compassion-based modalities. I am guided by the particular needs and personality of each client, as it is my strong belief that one size does not fit all.
I am Korean-Venezuelan-American and speak English, Spanish, and some Korean. I received my BA in Psychology at Brown University and a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Clark University. I have lived in Los Angeles, Providence (Rhode Island), Caracas, Seoul, and Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain).
