Sam utilizes an integrative approach informed by solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, positive psychology, feminist therapy, and compassion focused therapy with a strong foundation in mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy. Samantha’s therapeutic style is gender-affirming, sex-positive, kink-affirming, and poly-affirming. She is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE). As a member of the queer community herself, Sam understands how important it is to work with a mental health provider who is not only affirming, but is also actively challenging the cisgender/heteronormative expectations of American society. For many clients living in the South, this approach is often a breath of fresh air.
