Sara enjoys working with teens and young adults who are in a transitory stage of life. She operates from a Reality Therapy theoretical orientation which is client-centered in nature. Sara believes that our most important need is to feel loved and be heard while also building strong connections with others. Reality Therapy upholds the belief that our behaviors are choices and that while we cannot control how we feel at times, we can control how we think and respond. She believes in accountability and that choices have outcomes either positive or negative. This belief shows in her work with her clients and their families/support systems. She prides herself on making clients feel heard and offering supportive care to those who enter her office.
Along with working with teens and young adults, Sara also enjoys providing services to individuals who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, anger, and those who are needing supportive and affirming care in the LGBTQ+ community. Sara primarily works in the Somerset/Pulaski County area and provides sessions via telehealth, at school/in the community, or in person in the Somerset office or in the community/home visits.
Outside of work, Sara enjoys spending time with her family and friends whether it be day tripping across Kentucky for a distillery tour, visiting local breweries, attending concerts/festivals, or seeing a movie at the local theatre. On Friday nights you will find her playing Dungeons and Dragons with her co-workers. Sara has 1 daughter (Stella) and 5 fur babies including 4 dogs (Brady, Bandit, Julian, and Greta) and 1 guinea pig (Piggie Smalls) whom she loves dearly.
