Dr. Sarak Kenney, MD completed her medical training at Michigan State University the College of Human Medicine and received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from CSU Fresno. As a queer minority and child of an immigrant, she is a fierce advocate for equity in medicine. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Namibia. During medical school she held leadership positions with the Medical Student Pride Alliance, the Latino Medical Student Association and the Student National Medical Association. She was elected by her peers as the student representative for the Committee on Admissions and as a representative for the Council on Diversity in Education. Sarak was a co-founder of the West Michigan Health Careers Pipeline Program and served as head of curriculum planning for its launch in 2021. She has been published and her research on COVID earned her the Pediatric Legacy Award and 2nd Place for Medical Student poster presentation. She was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2024.
Dr. Kenney currently works as a resident physician in La Grange, IL. Her goal is to provide gender-affirming and inclusive care to LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families. She also offers counseling support for parents with LGBTQIA+ children. Dr. Kenney was raised in a very conservative Christian household and has gone through extensive therapy/education involving religion and sexuality. She is equipped to engage patients/families struggling with their faith practices and sexual/gender identity.
