Dr. Stefania Pinto (she/her) is a clinical child psychologist at Children’s National Hospital (CNH) and is licensed to provide mental healthcare to youth and families in DC and MD. She completed her doctoral degree in pediatric psychology at the University of Florida in 2022. Currently, Dr. Pinto works in the Whole Bear Care Behavioral Health team at Children’s National Shaw Metro, a primary care center in DC. In this role, she provides behavioral health consultation and short-term follow-up to youth ages 0-22. Dr. Pinto specializes in mood and anxiety disorders as they present across the developmental lifespan. She uses an eclectic patient-centered approach that draws upon evidence-based principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and trauma-focused therapies.
Dr. Pinto is a fierce advocate for queer youth and their families. She supports youth from an intersectional lens, acknowledging how systemic barriers may impact their experiences. She frequently collaborates with the CNH Youth Pride Clinic to connect families of LGBTQ+ youth to gender affirming care. She continues to seek training in diversity, equity, and inclusion and strives to promote access of intersectional and anti-racist healthcare to youth and their families.
