I ventured into the healing profession as a queer person living in the Deep South with a passion for developing connections. Witnessing firsthand the need for affirmative care, I became committed to providing psychotherapy to underserved populations. After receiving a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The University of Southern Mississippi, I relocated to Ohio where I worked at a non-profit community mental health agency. During my time at the agency, I provided therapeutic services to marginalized communities and served on the agency’s diversity committee to share my experiences as a queer gender-expansive person.
At The Self Collective, it is my mission to provide inclusive therapy to folks through a lens that is liberation-focused and strengths-based. Being a culturally competent provider is an ongoing process, and I am dedicated to engaging in career-long education and training to ensure I am providing a safe space for healing. I am a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE), and Counselors for Social Justice. I am trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy by the IFS Institute, which is a holistic, client-centered, non-pathologizing approach to therapy.
I specialize in treating trauma, facilitating identity exploration, and healing relational wounds for LGBTQIAP+, poly-am, and BDSM/kinky folks, using Internal Family Systems therapy to promote inner harmony, authentic connections, and Self love. I am licensed to provide services via telehealth to folks in Mississippi and Ohio. I am physically located on Tonkawa, Comanche, and Apache land (Austin, Texas).
My approach to therapy is client-centered, trauma- and social justice-informed, and rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory. I view the mind as naturally multiple, and welcome each part of you to speak its truth and be witnessed in a safe container within our relationship. IFS theory proposes that everyone possesses a “Self,” an inner resource at the very core of one’s being that keeps one grounded and open-hearted. It is my belief that one’s Self holds within it the power of healing, yielding integration and wholeness within.
Through our work together, we will harness the healing energy of your Self while holding space and exploring parts of you that may hold painful emotions or memories and parts that tirelessly aim to protect you from such pain. By developing authentic, safe relationships with your parts, we will promote inner harmony, clarity, and calmness.
My work with you strives to recognize and validate the many intersections of your identity. As a non-binary and queer therapist, I am committed to fostering a space and community that is inclusive, affirming, and safe for your healing and exploration.
All of you is welcome here. You are the expert of your lived experiences, and I would be honored to walk beside you along this path towards fulfillment.
