As a queer southerner living with a chronic health condition, I am deeply attuned to the challenges that come with navigating intersecting identities, especially in environments where systemic barriers and discrimination can feel overwhelming. I specialize in helping disabled queer and trans folks, or folx with chronic illnesses living authentically in a way that supports overall well-being. I understand the isolation that can stem from being queer in the south, particularly when lawmakers enact policies that negatively impact our health and well-being. My goal is to create a space where we can brainstorm ways to resist these pressures, fostering resilience and overall wellness.
I also recognize the importance of setting boundaries in relationships, particularly with family, as an essential part of maintaining emotional health. I’m here to help you explore and navigate these complex dynamics, working together to identify what boundaries might look like for you.
My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Feminist Theory, and Queer Theory, but my focus is always on tailoring therapy to meet the unique needs of each client. I place a strong emphasis on building and maintaining a supportive therapeutic alliance, regularly checking in to ensure that you feel heard, affirmed, and comfortable in our work together. I believe that genuine connection is key to fostering meaningful growth and healing.
I have a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, which I use to teach and train counselors how to best support LGBTQ+ clients. I also hold an M.S. Degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, which places an emphasis on skills for helping individuals with chronic illnesses and/or disabilities.
